Silvia Bermúdez is a Spanish and Portuguese Professor as well as a Feminist Studies Professor at the University of California Santa Barbara. Her specialization areas are Contemporary Spanish and Galician Literatures and Cultures, Transatlantic Studies, and Peruvian Poetry. Her subject focuses at UC Santa Barbara include Cultural Productions of the Iberian Peninsula, Perú, and Equatorial Guinea, Feminism, Women’s Studies, Poetic Discourses, and Politics.
Her major contributions to the field of Iberian Studies include publications such as De Naciones sin estado a la España Postnacional (co-editor, 2009), “La España Constitucional: Democracia y Cultura 1978-2008” for the Revista de Estudios Hispánicos (editor, 2010), and “Estudios Ibéricos: Reconfigurar modelos representativos e interpretativos en la enseñanza y en la investigación académica norteamericana” (2016). Along with Roberta Johnson, she is the co-editor of the volume A New History of Iberian Feminisms (2018), translated into Spanish as Una nueva historia de los feminismos ibéricos (2021).
