Ulrich Winter is a Professor in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the Philipps-Universität-Marburg (Germany). He received the PhD in Romance Literature at Heidelberg University. Prof. Winter specializes in European and Comparative literatures, Cultural Theory and Visual Culture. He is a member of the research group MHLI – Historical Memory in Iberian Literatures.
Organizer of the First Iberian Cultural Studies Symposium (20th and 21st centuries) in Germany, Winter has made several relevant contributions to the field of Iberian Studies such as “Memorias asimétricas. La Guerra Civil y la guerrilla antifranquista en la literatura de expresión castellana dentro del contexto ibérico” (2011) and “Asymmetry and the Political: Paradigms for a Cultural History of the Iberian Twentieth Century” (2012). He is the co-editor of several books such as Casa encantada: Lugares de memoria en la España constitucional 1978-2004 (2005), Lugares de memoria de la Guerra Civil y el Franquismo: representaciones literarias y visuales (2006), and Cruzar la línea roja. Hacia una arqueología del imaginario comunista ibérico 1930-2016 (2017). Lastly, he coordinated the dossier Posdictadura / posmodernismo. La renegociación de identidades colectivas en la España democrática: entre memoria histórica, cultura popular y cultura política (2004).
